Responsibilities

• Exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers. Shows courtesy, compassion, and respect to all individuals
• Ensures that appropriate portion of Outpatient and Inpatient nursing assessment of patient is completed, standard of care initiated and all necessary consent forms are signed
• Initiates/documents preoperative and discharge planning and patient teaching involving patient/significant other
• Assures all lab work, EKG, and x-rays are obtained, and initiates the PAT Protocol
• Analyzes pertinent data, communicates findings, documents information accurately
• Acquires/maintains current knowledge related to Preadmission Nursing
• Provides accountability for area of assigned responsibility
• Education element (RN only)
• Communicates effectively and professionally with peers, supervisors, ancillary departments and all other external/internal customers
• Organizes/prioritizes pre-operative teaching for a routine day in the preadmissions area

Qualifications

Education

Required: Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program

Preferred: BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program at an accredited school of nursing

Licensure / Certification

Required: Current Registered Nurse license in Virginia or a compact license

Required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider

Experience

Required: One year experience in area of clinical expertise to which applying
