An Apheresis RN demonstrates advanced knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served as per Scope of Service. They demonstrate knowledge and understanding of hematologic malignancy and general oncology patient populations to include hematopoietic progenitor cell (HPC) transplantation, HPC apheresis and extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP).

Responsibilities:

  • The Apheresis RN demonstrates advanced knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served as per Scope of Service. 
  • Will demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of hematologic malignancy and general oncology patient populations to include hematopoietic progenitor cell (HPC) transplantation, HPC apheresis and extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP). 
  • Will utilize nursing process for individual care to meet needs of patients. S/he demonstrates expert ability to perform technical skills and procedures relevant to the area of specialty. S/he promotes customer service initiatives. 
  • Will develops and maintain the stem cell collection facility quality management plan including but not limited to FACT/ FDA standards, collection processes and collection facility equipment in collaboration with the Quality Coordinator/Manager and Center for Blood Cancer leadership team.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing    
  • Current state of Missouri RN licensure required. 
  • BLS certification required at hire and maintained. 
  • One (1) years clinical experience with hematology/oncology and/or apheresis populations
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification, or must obtain within six (6) months of hire and continually maintain certification.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
