Job Summary:

In a career as a Nurse Practitioner-Advanced Care Unit, you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you will provide medical and procedural services for patients in the advanced care unit in collaboration with the attending physician and Advanced Care Unit (ACU) healthcare team.

Schedule: Full-Time, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM, Weekend Rotation, Holidays


  • Practices health promotion, health supervision, illness prevention and diagnosis, treatment, and management of common health problems and acute and chronic conditions including assessing patients, ordering diagnostic tests and therapeutic treatments, synthesizing and analyzing data, and applying advanced nursing principles.
  • May perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in collaboration with the attending physician.
  • Complies with all Nebraska statutes and regulations related to nurse practitioners.
  • Assists with research projects, as needed.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Works collaboratively with nursing staff, respiratory therapy staff, and other departments to promote quality and safe patient care.
  • Leads the Rapid Response Team in responding to medical emergencies at BTNRH West Campus.
  • Provides input to policy/procedure development.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Promotes professionalism within the advanced care team, other departments, families and patients.
  • Promotes a culture of safety and a non-punitive environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing with a minimum of two years of experience in a pediatric critical care setting preferred,
  • Must be licensed upon start as an APRN-Nurse Practitioner in the State of Nebraska
  • Must have current BLS, PALS, and ACLS certification, and
  • Prior working knowledge of using a personal computer and electronic medical records.
